Dany Preyer
My name is Daniela Preyer, I was born in Austria (Innsbruck) and I am living in Italy since 1983.
My last apprenticeship I made in CFP Ceramica Instituto d'arte Albe Steiner for advertising, graphics and photography.
During my long travels through Asia I discovered my love for photography and learned the technique of Kintsugi.
Kintsugi
Kintsugi is a Japanese technique to repair cracked ceramics. Instead of hiding the flaw of the repair, the cracks are highlighted by gold dust in the glue. The Wabi-Sabi aesthetic means to understand beauty in the ephemeral, flawed or old. Flaws are brought to the fore by applied gold or silver pigments and a completely new beauty and appreciation of the object is created.
The artist transfers the feelings to the fragility, beauty and strength of the human being and derives from this concrete action steps to dare a new beginning after a crisis. This shows how to recognize injuries, accept adversity and develop resilience. Loss of self-confidence, heartache, loss of job - many feelings are processed in this technique to show that there are ways out of difficult situations to emerge safe and sound!
As an artist (photographer, ceramist) I would like to express the beauty of nature to people with my pictures and works by refining the Kintsugi technique and I work this technique (Scars) into my pictures.
